CINTESIS researchers, Oscar Ribeiro, Constança Paúl and Lia Araújo talked to Notícias Magazine about ageing, in a piece entitled “Envelhecer é uma arte, não é uma doença” (Ageing is an art, not a Disease)
“Ageing is, in the first place, accepting that the course of time is irreversible”, says Oscar Ribeiro, researcher at Cintesis/University of Aveiro. Constança Paúl, Cintesis researcher and professor at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) adds that “ageing can never be regarded as a disease”. For the specialist, the problem lies in the lack of response to the needs of the elderly and in the lack of care that can ensure their dignity and quality of life.
