Acácio Rodrigues coordinates the research group MicroMed of CINTESIS.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), spent a period of his training at the Institute of Clinical Bacteriology of the University of Uppsala (Sweden) from 1989 to 1991 and earned his Doctoral Degree in 1999. He specialized in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in 1995, and in 2002, he completed the subspecialty in Emergency Medicine.

Acácio Rodrigues is an Associate Professor, with Agregação (tenure), at FMUP, is the Head of the Laboratory of Microbiology and is a member of the Scientific Council of FMUP. He works as a Medical Doctor at the Hospital Centre of São João, coordinating the Burn Unit of the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Service.

With more than a hundred scientific articles published in international indexed journals and about 250 scientific papers and lectures, mostly in international congresses, the Microbiology specialist stands out in the research areas of Resistance to Antibiotics and Antifungals.
