Ana Sá Sousa is an integrated researcher of the research group PaCeIT – Patient-Centered Innovation and Technologies of CINTESIS.

She graduated in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences/Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar of the University of Porto, earned a Master’s Degree in Evidence and Decision in Health, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Research and Health Services (PDICSS) from the Faculty of Medicine of the University from Porto.

She has participated in several projects, namely in INAsma – National Asthma Survey, ICAR – Asthma and Rhinitis Impact and Control, CASCA – Cost-of-illness of asthma in children, and AIRDOC: Smart Mobile Application for Individualized Support and Monitoring of the Respiratory Function and Sounds of Chronic Obstructive Patients.

Her areas of interest include the development of tools with an impact on health care, such as the development and validation of asthma screening questionnaires, and more recently, the Registry of Serious Asthma in Portugal (Registo de Asma Grave em Portugal).

She believes that patients, caregivers, and citizens should be involved in health research to make possible the cocreation of solutions that meet their needs and perspectives. With that in mind, she is the principal investigator of the project ConectAR – Collaborative Network: patient and public involvement in the advancement of research in respiratory diseases and digital health.
