The III Luso-Galician Biometrics Meeting (EBio2018) will be held next June 28, 29 and 30. The deadline for early bird registration is tomorrow, May 25. The meeting will take place at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Aveiro, and is organized by the Portuguese Statistical Society (SPE) and the Galician Society for the Promotion of Statistics and Operations Research (SGAPEIO), with the support of CINTESIS.

The meeting is addressed to statistics professionals and users, academics, researchers and students. The keynote session of this third edition will be the roundtable “The Role of the Statistician in the Various Phases of the Clinical Trial”, which will count on the interventions of João Branco (School of Engineering of the University of Lisbon), Elsa Branco (Country Monitoring Head at Novartis Farma) and Aurora Baluja (University of Santiago de Compostela), and the moderation of Júlio Singer (University of São Paulo).

EBio2018 also includes plenary sessions, guest sessions, selected communications (oral and panel) and a mini-course entitled “Biometry with compositional data”, which will be lectured by Karel Hron of the University of Palacký, Czech Republic.

Among the invited speakers for the plenary sessions there are Peter Müller (University of Texas), Alessandro Fassò (University of Bergamo), Carlos Daniel Paulino (University of Lisbon) and Ricardo Cao (University of A Coruña).

Among the guest speakers there will be Bruno Falissard (University of Paris XI), Daniel Farewell (Cardiff University), Elizabeth Juarez-Colunga (University of Colorado, Denver), Luiz Alexandre Peternelli (Federal University of Viçosa), Lurdes Inoue ), María Xosé Rodríguez Álvarez (Basque Center for Applied Mathematics), Raquel Meneses (University of Minho) and Ruwanthi Kolamunnage-Dona (University of Liverpool).
