Carla Dolores Rodrigues Carvalho de Sá Couto is an integrated member of the Tech4edusim research group.

She graduated in Mathematics Applied to Technology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and completed her Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). In 2009, she earned the Doctorate in the same field and specialised in Clinical Simulation. She was part of the team that created the Lucina Childbirth Simulator (marketed by CAE Healthcare), a simulator currently used around the world for obstetric emergencies training.

Since 2014, she has been the Director of the Biomedical Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), where she also works as professor.

She presides the Portuguese Association of Epidermolysis Bullosa (DEBRA Portugal) where she also works as a volunteer. She is the President of the Scientific Committee of SESAM – European Society of Simulation Applied to Medicine.
