CINTESIS is collaborating with the University of Aveiro and the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Spain) in a study that aims to understand the generativity, social participation, and life satisfaction in LGBTI people (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, and intergender).

Participants must be LGBTI people aged 50 or over, residing in Portugal and Spain.

In the first phase, this study includes the realization of an online survey, with questions about self-perceived health, social participation, generative behaviors, and life satisfaction, among others.

In the second phase, interviews will be conducted, by phone or via zoom, with questions focused on generativity, defined as “the intention to contribute to the community and the well-being of future generations”.

“We believe that this project can bring important contributions to the training of this community and, consequently, to our understanding of the measures and policies that are necessary for LGBTI people to age in a healthy way and experience well-being in old age”, say researchers Sara Guerra, João Tavares and Liliana Sousa, from CINTESIS / the University of Aveiro, together with Tatiana Staritzky, from the Universitat de les Illes Balears.
