“About half of university professors show signs of exhaustion and high fatigue in the context of the current pandemic, while 37% suffer from burnout associated with their professional activity. The majority (60%) also report difficulties related in sleeping and one fourth admits to having symptoms of anxiety, agitation, and difficulties in relaxing or calming down.”

These are the preliminary results of an unprecedented study in Portugal on the mental health of higher education professors in times of covid-19, announced by the newspaper Diário de Notícias.

The work was carried out by a team of researchers from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research, and the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto (P.PORTO, InED), under the coordination of Ivone Duarte (CINTESIS and FMUP) and Carla Serrão.
