Legionella is the central theme of the interview given by Acácio Rodrigues, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), to the newspaper Expresso.

The expert explains that the closure of several infrastructures due to the confinement dictated by the pandemic of COVID-19 requires extra care in its reopening. The goal is to prevent further outbreaks of the bacteria. 

Acácio Rodrigues even suggests the implementation of something similar to the “covid free” security seal, which was assigned after the first wave of the pandemic to tourist establishments, but now to guarantee the exclusion of Legionella.
