José Silva Cardoso is the principal investigator of the CardioCare group of CINTESIS.

He is a Cardiologist who graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto in 1979, and earned his Doctoral Degree in Medicine from the same faculty in 1998. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine of FMUP and since 2008, and he is the Director of the Cardiology Service of the Hospital Centre of São João.

José Silva Cardoso has authored about fifty scientific articles published in important international journals. He is also de coordinator of several research projects, and has participated in 15 multicentre clinical trials. He is a reviewer of the scientific journals ESC-Heart Failure, Heart Journal and the Portuguese Journal of Pneumatology.

Recently, he was awarded by the Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia with the Prize Mérito SBCDestaque Docente Internacional (prominent international professor), an accolade awarded to “top personalities of world Cardiology” that acknowledges the influence of the Portuguese Professor in the Brazilian Cardiology.
