Manuel Campelo is a member of the research group CardioCare, integrated in the Thematic Line 2 – Clinical and Translational Research of CINTESIS.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and specialised in Cardiology at the Hospital Centre of São João where he has always carried out his clinical practice.

In 1993 he joined the faculty members of the FMUP, in the quality of Guest Assistant Lecturer. In 2011, he earned his Doctoral Degree in Medicina from that institution with the work “Avaliação do Sistema Nervoso Simpático na Insuficiência Cardíaca: comparação de métodos” (Evaluation of the Sympathetic Nervous System in Heart Failure: comparison of methods).

He is a member of several scientific national and European societies, and has participated as the co-authored of several international multicentre clinical trials.

Currently, he is one of the Cardiologists of the clinical staff of the Hospital Centre of São João and a professor at FMUP.
