Manuela Nené is an integrated member of the research team NursID of CINTESIS.

She earned her degree in Nursing from the Portuguese Red Cross School of Health (ESSCVP) and her specialization in Maternal Health and Obstetrics Nursing at Maria Fernanda Resende School of Nursing. She completed her Master in Nursing Sciences at the Portuguese Catholic University and her PhD in Psychology (Health and Education) at the University of Extremadura, Spain.

She worked as a nurse at Santa Maria Hospital and at Nossa Senhora do Rosário Hospital, in Barreiro. She has worked as guest professor of the Doctoral Programme of Nursing at the Portuguese Catholic University and has extensive experience in management, coordinating health projects in Portuguese speaking countries (for example, the Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening Technician Training Capacities for the Maternal and Child Health Care Provision in Angola, funded by the European Commission) and as a Member of the External Evaluation Commission of the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Agency – A3ES for Nursing. She has authored several books, book chapters and publications in national and international journals.

Currently, she is a coordinating professor of the Portuguese Red Cross Higher School of Health (ESSCVP) in Lisboa
