Margarida de Melo Cerqueira is an integrated member of the AgeingC research group of CINTESIS, at the University of Aveiro, where she is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Gerontology Graduate Degree Program.

She earned her Doctoral Degree in Health Sciences from the University of Aveiro, her Master Degree in Information Management from the same institution and her Graduate Degree in Education Sciences from the University of Coimbra.

She has participated in projects in the field of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) for the elderly and has published books, book chapters and scientific articles in her main research areas, including Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) and Active Aging.
