Maria João Monteiro is an integrated researcher of the NursID group, Thematic Line 1 – Preventive Medicine & Societal Challenges of CINTESIS.

In 2005, she completed her Doctoral Degree in Human and Social Sciences – Education Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), a title she added to the Master in Education Sciences earned from the University of Porto and to the Graduate Degree in Community Nursing from the Nursing School of Porto (ESEP).

She specialised in Public Health Nursing, and is the author of several scientific articles and book chapters about primary health care and education, and about clinical and personal skills.

Currently, she works as a Coordinating Professor and is the President of the Health School of UTAD.
