José Miguel dos Santos Castro Padilha is the principal investigator of the research group Tech4edusim of CINTESIS, and an Assistant Professor at the Nursing School of Porto (ESEP) since 2007.

He holds a Doctorate in Nursing from the Catholic University of Portugal (2014), and a Master Degree in Nursing Sciences from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto (2006). Miguel Padilha began his teaching career at the former Nursing School of São João in 2003, as an Assistant Lecturer, two years after finishing his graduate course.

He worked as a nurse at the Hospital Center of Porto between 1997-2003. He is the author of several articles published in scientific journals, and coordinates three scientific projects in the field of Self-management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and in the field of Simulation in Nursing Education.
