It has already happened in other countries and could happen in Portugal too. In the face of disruption in health services, health professionals may be faced with the need to choose which COVID-19 patients to admit to intensive care units. What are the ethical criteria that can guide decision making in these cases?

Miguel Ricou, CINTESIS researcher and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), answered to questions posed during the show + Info Forum, of the Porto Canal.

It is recalled that CINTESIS and FMUP announced the development of a study that is evaluating exactly that, the ethical criteria for admission to intensive care due to COVID-19. The study is coordinated by Altamiro da Costa Pereira and Rui Nunes.
