Rita Amaral is an integrated researcher in the research group PaCeIT – Patient-Centered Innovation and Technologies, at CINTESIS.

She graduated in Cardiopneumology from the Escola Superior de Tecnologias da Saúde in 2006. She completed a postgraduate in Adapted Physical Activity at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto, a Master in Evidence and Decision in Health from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, and a Doctorate in Clinical Research and Health Services from the same Faculty. She is interested in Big Data, Data Mining, and Intelligent Data Analysis with application in health, in particular to the study of chronic respiratory diseases.

Since 2015, she has worked as a reviewer for the journals Chest, Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, BMJ Open, and American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy. She an associate editor of the Revista Cardiopulmonar. Rita Amaral has received several awards. One of the most important is the 1º Place for the best research article, given by the Luso-Brazilian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SLBAIC) and the SPAIC Award by AstraZeneca, in 2017.

Currently, she works as a guest assistant professor at the Escola Superior de Saúde do Porto – IPP and as a Cardiopneumology technician at the CUF Hospital and at the CUF Porto Institute. She also participates in different projects of her group.
