She has a degree in Clinical Psychology, a Master in Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and a doctorate in Psychology from the Karolinska Institute (Sweden). She began her career as a professor and researcher at the Lusófona University in Lisbon. In the academic year and 2008/2009 she joined the University of Aveiro (UA), where she was responsible for the creation and coordination of the Olfaction Lab Unit within the PsyLab-Laboratory of Experimental and Applied Psychology of the AU.
She is the main supervisor of FCT-funded doctoral studies in Psychology, in collaboration with prestigious Portuguese and foreign universities. She is also ad-hoc reviewer of scientific journals such as Behavior Research and Therapy, Frontiers in Psychology and Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. She was one of four nominees for the 2010 Young Researcher in Psychology Award, granted by the Swedish National Committee for Psychological Sciences of the Royal Swedish Academy of Science.
Currently, she is Vice-Dean of the Univeristy of Aveiro and works as an Assistant Professor of the Department of Education and Psychology of that university. She is also Coordinator of the CeNTER – Networks and Communities for Territorial Innovation Program, and works as a collaborator at William James Research Center (ISPA, Lisbon) and at the Karolinska Institute.
