Zilma Reis is an integrated member of the research group HIS-EHR – Health Information Systems & Electronic Health Records at CINTESIS.

She holds a degree (1988), a Master (1993) and a Doctorate in Medicine (2002) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil; and completed a postdoctoral internship at the University of Porto in 2011. She was awarded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Grand Challenges Explorations in 2015 and by the Stars in Global Health Grand Challenges Canada in 2018. The project Newborn Skin-age, which she coordinates, was nominated to participate at the 7th edition of the Building Global Innovators, in 2016, and at the Venture Well, in 2017.

She is an associate professor of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Postgraduate Programme in Women’s Health of the UFMG, besides being the Coordinator of the Center of Health Informatics of the Faculty of Medicine of the UFMG. She is a member of the Board of the Brazilian Society of Health Informatics (SBIS).
