A Ética e a Educação estarão em foco no 1st National Seminar Ethics and Education, que se realizará no próximo dia 29 de novembro, no Auditório do Centro de Investigação Médica (CIM) da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP), com o apoio do CINTESIS – Centro de Investigação em Tecnologias e Serviços de Saúde e da Cátedra de Bioética da UNESCO.
“Este Seminário tem como objetivo promover a discussão sobre o ensino da Ética em diferentes níveis do desenvolvimento da pessoa humana. Pretende contribuir para a troca e análise de experiências do ensino da Ética, assim como expandir e aprimorar o ensino da Ética a nível nacional e internacional”, explica a organização do evento, liderada por Rui Nunes, investigador do CINTESIS, docente e diretor do Programa Doutoral em Bioética da FMUP.
A sessão de abertura deverá contar com a presença Altamiro da Costa Pereira, diretor da FMUP, de Rui Nunes e de João Fonseca, ambos investigadores do CINTESIS e docentes da FMUP, bem como de um representante da Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto (FPCEUP).
Um dos momentos altos do Seminário será a conferência de Vojin Rakic, atual responsável pela Divisão Europeia da Cátedra de Bioética da UNESCO e diretor do Centro de Estudo em Bioética da Universidade de Belgrado, na Sérvia. A conferência será subordinada ao tema “Ethics and Education in the Global World”.
O programa inclui também uma sessão intitulada “Human Values and Ethics Education”, com a participação de Miguel Ricou, investigador do CINTESIS e docente da FMUP, entre outras personalidades. Na sessão com o título “From Theory to Practice”, o destaque vai para Evelyn Schlenk, do projeto europeu ETHIKA – Ethics and Values Education in Schools and Kindergatens. Falarão também Maria Pontes, docente de Filosofia do Colégio Novo da Maia, e Ivone Duarte, investigadora do CINTESIS e docente da FMUP.
Depois da entrega de prémios à melhor comunicação e ao melhor póster científico, o Seminário chegará ao fim com uma cerimónia de encerramento conduzida por Guilhermina Rego, investigadora principal do CINTESIS, docente da FMUP e membro da direção da Associação Portuguesa de Bioética (APB).

Ethics and Education will be in focus at the 1st National Seminar on Ethics and Education, which will take place on November 29, in the Auditorium of the Medical Research Center (CIM) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) with the support of CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and the UNESCO Bioethics Chair.
“This Seminar aims to promote discussion on Ethics instruction at different levels of human development. It aims to contribute to the exchange and analysis of the teaching experiences of Ethics, as well as to expand and improve the teaching of Ethics at national and international levels”, explains the organization of the event, led by Rui Nunes, CINTESIS researcher, professor at FMUP and Director of the Doctoral Program in Bioethics of that faculty.
The opening session will be attended by Altamiro da Costa Pereira, director of FMUP, Rui Nunes and João Fonseca, both CINTESIS researchers and professors of FMUP, as well as a representative of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP).
One of the highlights of the Seminar will be the conference by Vojin Rakic, currently responsible for the European Division of the UNESCO Bioethics Chair and director of the Center for Bioethics Studies at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. The conference will be under the theme “Ethics and Education in the Global World”.
The program also includes a session entitled “Human Values and Ethics Education”, with the participation of Miguel Ricou, CINTESIS researcher and FMUP professor, among other personalities. In the session entitled “From Theory to Practice”, the highlight goes to Evelyn Schlenk, from the European project ETHIKA – Ethics and Values Education in Schools and Kindergartens. Maria Pontes, professor of philosophy at Colégio Novo da Maia, and Ivone Duarte, a researcher at CINTESIS and professor at FMUP will also speak.
After awarding the best communication and best scientific poster awards, the Seminar will end with a closing ceremony conducted by Guilhermina Rego, one of CINTESIS Principal Investigators, FMUP professor, and board member of the Portuguese Bioethics Association (APB).
