This group is under the direction of Prof. Mário Dinis Ribeiro and comprises a total of 4 integrated members, 7 PhD students and 1 other researcher as collaborator. This group has been delivering several outputs, putting together diverse competences and researchers, in essence as a "network" of different hospitals (particularly with the main cancer center in Portugal – Instituto Português de Oncologia – and the Hospital São João), medical schools and universities establishing further "nodes" with other R&D groups in CINTESIS, in Porto (e.g. IPATIMUP, IT), Portugal or internationally. The Technologies Assessment in Gastrointestinal Oncology (G3 – iGO) group is a unique network for translational research in Gastrointestinal Oncology.
The iGO group has been working during the last decade in diverse settings from scientific and clinical projects, at national or international levels. In the upcoming years, this team wishes to be a relevant national and international player and partner to conduct multicentre prospective studies, rapidly ensuring an adequate and sufficiently large number of patients, to adequately assess the efficacy, accuracy, effectiveness, safety, acceptability and cost-effectiveness of innovative and disruptive technologies for cancer screening, diagnosis and management.
