José Carlos Marques de Carvalho is an integrated member of the NursID group of CINTESIS, based at the Nursing School of Porto (ESEP), where he works as an Assistant Professor.
He earned his Doctorate in Nursing Sciences from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto in 2012; and his Master Degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health from the Faculty of Medicine of the same University in 2002.
He graduated in Nursing and specialized in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing about 20 years ago. He worked as a nurse at the Hospital of São João, at the Hospital Center of Vila Nova de Gaia, and at the IPO of Porto. He is a founder member of the Portuguese Society of Mental Health Nursing and a member of the Research Center “Teaching, Creativity and Care in Health and Nursing” of the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is also the author of several book chapters, and scientific articles published in specialized journals.
