José Augusto Simões is an integrated researcher of the PrimeCare group, Thematic Line 1 – Preventive Medicine and Societal Challenges of CINTESIS.
In 1982, he graduated in Medicine from the University of Coimbra. He specialised in General and Family Medicine and has competence on Health Services Management and on Geriatrics recognised by the Portuguese Order of Doctors, and on Family Therapy recognised by the Portuguese Society of Family Therapy. In 2004, he earned his Master Degree in Bioethics from the University of Lisbon and, in 2015, his Doctoral Degree in Health Sciences and Technology (specialisation in Clinical Decision) from the University of Aveiro.
José Augusto Simões has published more than 50 articles in medical journals and has presented more than 100 communications, as author or co-author, in conferences and other scientific events in Portugal and in Europe. He works as a Guest Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior (UBI), coordinating and chairing the curricular units on Primary Health Care I, II and III.
