Mário Dinis-Ribeiro is the Principal Investigator of the Thematic Line 2 – Clinical and Translational Research and of the Research group iGO – Health Technology Assessment in Gastrointestinal Oncology of CINTESIS.
He graduated in Medicine (1996) and earned his Doctorate Degree (2005) from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). He then specialised in Gastroenterology at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto (IPO-Porto).
He is the Head of the Gastroenterology Service of IPO-Porto, Guest Full Professor of the Department of Community Medicine, Health Information and Decision (MEDCIDS) at FMUP, where he also coordinates the Master Programme in Health Evidence and Decision, and several other undergraduate courses.
His research interests focus on the development of predictive models and diagnosis procedures for early detection and maintenance of gastrointestinal tumours through endoscopic resection of the mucous membrane and within that field he leads several inter-institutional national and international projects. Mário Dinis-Ribeiro is a researcher of reference in his field, having authored about 200 scientific articles, part of which were published in some of the most high-profile journals in the field of Gastroenterology.
Currently, he is President of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), President of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Society of Digestive Endoscopy, Chief Co-editor of the journal Endoscopy, Associate Editor of the GE-Portuguese Journal of Gastroenterology and a member of the Scientific Council of the United European Gastroenterology (UEG).
