Cidália Pina Vaz is an integrated researcher of the MicroMed research group of CINTESIS.
She is a Medical Specialist in Clinical Pathology, integrating the clinical staff of the Hospital Centre of São João since 1994. She is also an Associate Professor at FMUP, at the Microbiology Laboratory, since 2000.
Cidália Pina Vaz is the CEO of FASTinov, a U.Porto-born company that received 2.6 million euros from the European Commission to launch a clinical diagnostic kit that allows the determination of the susceptibility of bacteria to antibiotics from blood cultures in 60 minutes. The scientist was also responsible for several scientific projects, namely funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and by the industry.
She has already authored around 100 scientific articles and accumulates in her curriculum several awards, attributed by entities such as the Laboratories LabMed and Pfizer.
Currently, she is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SPDIMC in Portuguese).
