Alice Bastos is an Integrated Member of the research group AgeingC at CINTESIS.

She graduated in Psychology at the University of Porto in 1982, earned her Master in Educational Psychology from the University of Minho in 1993, and her PhD in Psychology at the same higher education institution in 1999.

She worked as Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey, Faculty of Education, London, and as Expert of the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (A3ES). Her curriculum also includes her activity as a Visiting Professor at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) and as a Consultant at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto.

Currently, she is a Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC-ESE). As a researcher, she participates or is responsible for several projects, with an emphasis on the project “Ageing, social participation and early detection of dependency: preparing for the 4th age”, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Her main areas of interest are life-cycle psychological development, life events in adulthood and ageing, in which she has published three book chapters and several scientific articles.

She has participated in different scientific teams and research projects supported by publich funds in the field of HIV/AIDS. She is a principal investigator of the research project “Self-efficacy and Burnout in Health Higher Education Students”.
