“Identifying people who may change their mind, defining a different waiting period for terminal and non-terminal illnesses and realizing that personal conditions can enhance the desire to anticipate death are some of the issues that must be taken into account under the legislation on early death.”
Miguel Ricou, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, stated in the Público newspaper.
The opinion article is entitled “Anticipating death in Portugal” and comes at a time when the process of legalizing euthanasia is taking place.
