CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research sponsors the III (Inter)National Seminar on “Health Literacy”, which will take place, on April 30, at the Hotel Axis Ofir in Esposende, an initiative of the Municipality of Esposende, in collaboration with ISAVE – Instituto Superior de Saúde and LACLIS – Creation Laboratory for Health Literacy.
This Seminar aims to be “a space for discussion and sharing” of health literacy, defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the set of “cognitive and social skills and the person’s ability to access, understand and use the information to promote and maintain good health”.
According to the organization, “the promotion of Health Literacy among people, communities, and organizations is an important opportunity and challenge for Public Health”.
The temporary program includes panels on “The (De)Construction of the Message for Health”, “Local Practices and Investigations for Health Literacy” and “Health Literacy: A (Inter)national strategy”, with the participation of Maria Falcón Romero, from the University of Murcia (Spain), as well as poster sessions and awards.
The participation of the heads of the entities involved, health professionals, teachers and researchers in this area, from different health institutions and higher education institutions, is confirmed.
The submission of abstracts of poster communications must be made until February 21st, electronically, using the online form, following the respective regulations. The posters will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee, which includes Paulo Santos, a researcher from CINTESIS and a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), and António Soares, executive manager of CINTESIS.
