“Only by testing, as swift and as efficient as possible, we will be able to know who had the disease and who did not,” says Acácio Rodrigues, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Porto (FMUP).
Speaking to the Jornal de Notícias, the microbiologist argues that these tests should start to be applied in priority groups and that they are fundamental to “begin to alleviate the forced confinement” of the population.
According to Herlander Marques, the problem is the test shortage. For this CINTESIS researcher, the country must “focus its resources on producing the tests and not be dependent on other countries.”
