HealthySystems (HLTSYS), a spin-off of the University of Porto born within CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), has established a partnership agreement with the multinational Glintt.

Through this agreement, Glintt now holds a 51% stake in the capital of the spin-off, specialized in the areas of Cybersecurity, Data Protection, and Integration of Health Information Systems and incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto.

According to Ricardo Correia, co-founder and CEO of Healthy Systems, this partnership creates more opportunities in Portugal and abroad. “We realized that we would have difficulty in increasing the number of customers with the current structure and that it would make more sense to seek smart investment from an entity that knows the market”, explains the CINTESIS researcher and professor at FMUP.

This agreement, which reinforces the capacity to act in the health ecosystem and deepen the complementarity of solutions and knowledge, arises with special accuracy in the face of the current pandemic of COVID-19.

In this line, the official adds that “the pandemic has made obvious the need for robust health information systems that promote the safe circulation of data”.

As for Glintt, it has already publicly declared that HealthySystems solutions are “an asset for all institutions in the health system” and that the proximity of the spin-off to the academy and the innovation system will be “decisive”.

In the future, the spin-off wishes to expand its activity to the Center and South regions of the country, as well as to explore the international market, with a reinforced bet in the area of IoT (“Internet of Things”), “with solutions that integrate medical devices in extra-hospital environments, namely home care and smart cities ”.

HealthySystems was Cofounded by Ricardo Correia, Eduardo Correia, and Luís Filipe Antunes. It holds the Spin-off seal of the U.Porto, attributed by the U.Porto Innovation, and has received several awards at the national and international levels.
