iHIPI: Hyperinflammation and Immune Profile of Patients with COVID-19 at the Hospital Center of Vila Nova de Gaia / Espinho
Abstract
The project “iHIPI: Hyperinflammation and immunological profile of patients with COVID-19 at Centro Hospitalar de Vila Gaia / Espinho”, coordinated by Matilde Monteiro-Soares (FMUP / CINTESIS), aims to understand the mechanisms of immunity of patients with COVID-19 and describe the potential associations between the immunological profile and clinical data, in order to stratify the risk, to act preventively and to avoid fatal outcomes.
Distinguished in the second edition of the RESEARCH 4 COVID19 contest with a financing amounting to 40 thousand euros, the project included, in its team, Daniela Martins Mendes, Centro Hospitalar de Vila Gaia / Espinho and i3S – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health of U.Porto, and Rúben Fernandes, from the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP / PORTIC).
