What was the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the care provided to asthma patients in Portugal?
A group of researchers from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research, led by João Fonseca, wants to answer this and other questions, through a study that is already underway.
Using an online survey, the team wants to understand the consequences of the pandemic on aspects such as usual medical follow-up and experience in using digital media in asthma follow-up consultations.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the normal functioning of health services. Usual face-to-face consultations have been replaced by remote consultations (e.g., by telephone and/or video consultations,” the researchers explain.
For these experts, “it is important to understand the applicability of different telemedicine methodologies in the follow-up of asthma patients and their levels of satisfaction with the use of these digital means in a pandemic context.”
This survey is intended for people with asthma, aged 14 years or older, living in Portugal. The estimated time for completion is 10 minutes. The answers are anonymous and the data will be processed and analyzed exclusively within the scope of this research.
