Practicing football three times a week, in addition to the curricular physical education classes, has more impact on markers of nutritional, metabolic, behavioral, and psychosocial status in overweight children.
The conclusion is from a study by Carla Rêgo, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP).
The pediatrician adds that teamwork “has a massive effect to leverage self-esteem, self-confidence and shared responsibilities”.
