The results of the Epi-Asthma study, with the participation of CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research will be publicly presented on April 30, from 9h30 to 12h30 at a public session to be held in the Auditorium of the Ricardo Jorge National Health Institute (INSA) in Lisbon.
The study was carried out by researchers from CINTESIS/Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), the Life and Health Research Institute (ICVS) of the University of Minho, with AstraZeneca and aims to determine the prevalence of asthma in Portugal according to the severity of the disease and to characterize the profile of asthmatic patients.
“This will be an important milestone for knowledge about asthma in Portugal, and may contribute to the better organization of health care and policies in this area, as well as to the definition of more effective strategies in the management of this pathology,” say the authors of the study, whose principal investigator is João Fonseca from CINTESIS/FMUP.
Epi-Asthma also has the scientific support of the Portuguese Association of General Practice (APMGF), the Portuguese Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SPAIC) and the Portuguese Society of Pneumology (SPP).
Registration for the session to present the results of this study is mandatory and must be completed online by April 22.
