Elderly who arrive at a hospital must be allowed to be accompanied by a relative, to have their glasses with them, their hearing aid, their watch. In short, it should be decoded, at all times, what is happening to them.  These were some of the advices left by the CINTESIS researchers Lia Fernandes and Sónia Martins, during the interview given to Ponto de Partida of Antena 1. During the program, the specialists in mental health of older adults explained the research work they have been carrying out for a decade with elderly people suffering from acute confusional syndrome and their family carers hospitalized in a large hospital in Porto. They have come to the conclusion that: “there is a lot to do with the carers, relatives, the patients themselves, the health systems and the social system.” The program also presents testimonies collected from the Porto4Ageing consortium.
