CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research will participate in NORMÉDICA AJUTEC 2017 – Forum and Exhibition of Medical and Health Sciences, Hospital Management, Technical Aids, Mobility and Inclusion, which will take place between November 2nd and 4th, at EXPONOR – Feira Internacional do Porto, in Matosinhos.

The event will bring together, in the same space, health professionals (such as doctors, nurses, therapists, technicians, nutritionists and social workers), hospital directors, managers, industry, policymakers and patient associations, among other stakeholders. Visitors will be able to see an exhibition that brings together emerging solutions in healthcare, hospital management and technical aids, as well as participate in a Forum of debates on such pressing issues as e-Health strategies and food sustainability.

In this 14th edition of NORMÉDICA and 15th edition of AJUTEC, CINTESIS is strategically positioned in the market as a Research and Development Unit (R&D) whose mission is to promote innovative scientific research and accelerate technology transfer to the health field, finding new solutions, products and services for specific problems of people.

Over three days, the Research Center, based at the University of Porto, will present a portfolio of services that bridge the gap between the knowledge of academia and the real needs of society, highlighting five major areas of activity: Health Technology Assessment, Health Informatics Services, Data Science Solutions and Clinical Trial Support.

Supported by a team of about 450 researchers across the country, CINTESIS also hopes to establish or strengthen partnerships with projects developed under H2020 and Portugal 2020, bringing together synergies in areas such as clinical and health research, neuroscience and ageing, diagnostic and therapeutic tools, research methods, biostatistics and health informatics, for example.

CINTESIS will also be represented at NORMÉDICA AJUTEC 2017 with two Spin-offs, VirtualCare and Healthy Systems. Both have already received the U.Porto Spin-off Seal which represents recognition by the University of Porto and integration in an extensive network of strategic partnerships within an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

VirtualCare – Systems for Life is mainly dedicated to the development of clinical applications, such as ObsCare, an electronic medical record system that supports gynaecological and obstetric practice in dozens of hospitals nationwide. As for Healthy Systems (HLTSYS), it has focused its activity on cybersecurity, network infrastructure optimization and data protection.
