What is the impact of fear regarding COVID-19 and nuclear war on the anxiety of the Portuguese population? This is the central question posed in a study conducted by Filipe Prazeres, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior (UBI).

At this stage, an online survey is being conducted, directed at adults over 18 years of age residing in Portugal. Besides some socio-demographic data, the survey asks questions about anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the outbreak of a nuclear war. Overall, there are 35 questions. Participation in this study, which obtained approval from the Ethics Committee of the University of Beira Interior, is voluntary and confidential.

“The results will contribute to encouraging support programs to promote emotional well-being according to the underlying cause of fear,” explains the CINTESIS researcher.
