João Vasco Santos, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research, was recently appointed president of the section “Public Health and Health Economics”, a body that is part of the European Public Health Association – EUPHA.
During his office, the new president hopes to “promote collaboration and connection between the areas of Public Health and Health Economics, benefiting European Public Health as a whole”, as well as the “importance and visibility of methodology and scientific evidence in these areas and their intersection”.
With a team of over two thousand international members, this section aims to “specify and characterize the specific nature of public health interventions with regard to economic impact assessments”, in line with the vision of EUPHA itself, in improving health in Europe.
João Vasco Santos, who wrote the most recent editorial for the European Journal of Public Health, thus succeeds Diana Sonntag in the position.
