“Centenarians – A European Overview”. This is the title of the book launched by a group of researchers of CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research.
The objective is to give a global view on the characteristics of centenarians (people aged 100 years or over), in 28 European countries, based on official data from various national and international sources and with a focus on living conditions, sociodemographic factors, and health.
“By comparing the information currently existing in the different countries, this book fills a gap in knowledge concerning the population of centenarians in Europe.” This can be read on the publisher’s official website Springer.
It is expected that, in addition to being an important resource for students and researchers, this book can provide relevant information to stakeholders and policymakers in order to improve forecasting, planning, and responding to the challenges posed by advanced longevity.
The book is authored by Laetitia Teixeira, Lia Araújo and Constança Paúl, researchers at CINTESIS-ICBAS, and Oscar Ribeiro, a researcher at CINTESIS-University of Aveiro (UA), and was developed in the framework of the projeto PT100 – Oporto Centenarian Study.
