CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research will return to the University of Porto 2021 Show (Mostra UPorto), which will take place from May 27-29, from 10h00 to 18h00, this year online.

For three days, CINTESIS will have its virtual stand “open” to all those who wish to visit, through authentication, at mostra.up.pt. Visitors will learn about the projects developed by more than 600 researchers and view a gallery of videos and photographs allusive to the different lines of research.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to attend a diversified program, including a series of lectures by CINTESIS researchers, in close articulation with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP).

The highlight will be the lecture by Rui Nunes, a researcher at CINTESIS and professor of the FMUP, who will be in the main auditorium of the event on May 27 at 15:45, to talk about “Ethics in times of pandemic.

On the same day, two more researchers from CINTESIS/FMUP will step on the virtual stage of the Mostra. Inês Vaz will talk about “Vaccine Safety”, starting at 11:00, explaining the importance of reporting all adverse reactions to the authorities responsible for Pharmacovigilance.

When the possibility of legalizing cannabis is being discussed, Manuel Gonçalves Pinho will warn about the harmful effects of its use and abuse, particularly among young people. The lecture is scheduled for this Thursday, starting at 16h30.

On Friday, May 28, at 11h00, Abel Nicolau (CINTESIS/FMUP) will talk about the importance of clinical simulation in the training of doctors and health professionals.

On Saturday, the last day of the Mostra, José Paulo Andrade (CINTESIS/FMUP) will give a lecture entitled “COVID-19: The pillars of misinformation”, at 11h00, and Miguel Ricou (CINTESIS/FMUP) will speak on the theme “Mental health and the pandemic”, starting at 14h00.

As in previous editions, CINTESIS is once again proposing an interactive quiz, which allows visitors to test their knowledge on health issues, such as Nutrition and Food, Mental Health, and Heart, and surprise questions.
