“It seemed like this virus caused only pneumonia, but after all, there are many organs that are affected, and we are still far from knowing the full extent of its aggression against the human body”, summarizes José Silva Cardoso, a cardiologist, a researcher at CINTESIS – Research Center for Health Technology and Services Research, and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), regarding the new coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2), which causes COVID-19.

In an interview to Diário de Notícias, the specialist said that the lack of knowledge about the consequences of the infection is still great, but that it is already known that it can be serious, attacking different vital organs, such as the heart, the kidneys, the liver, the central nervous system, and the brain.
