Fernando Magro is a CINTESIS integrated researcher working in the group Charter – Challenges and Strategies in Health Research.

He studied Medicine and obtained his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), where he is currently a Guest Associate Professor. He is also a gastroenterologist at the University Hospital Center of São João (CHUSJ) in Porto.

He is a founder and member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Study Group (GEDII), member of the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD), and Associate Editor of the United European Gastroenterology Journal (UEG Journal). As a researcher, his focus is mainly on gastrointestinal diseases, management, treatment and prognosis of inflammatory bowel diseases, eradication of Helicobacter pylori, and clinical pharmacology.
