Júlio Souza is an integrated researcher at CINTESIS, working in the research group 2D4H – Secondary Data for Healthcare Research, of the thematic line 3 -Health Data & Decision Sciences and Information Technologies.

He received his Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Services Research from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, in 2019. In Brazil, where he was born, he completed a degree in Biomedical Informatics at the University of São Paulo and a master’s in Bioengineering at the same institution. He started his path in Portugal with an internship, from August 2014 to January 2015, financed with a mobility grant from Banco Santander, which was followed by a Ph.D. grant under the Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Services Research, from FMUP.

He is currently doing research at CINTESIS, namely in machine learning, clinical coding, data quality, and health indicators.
