A study by researchers from CINTESIS and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) reveals that nine out of 10 Portuguese accept to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
However, the team warns that individuals with lower levels of education show greater concern about taking the vaccine and possible side effects, which implies a greater risk of not accepting vaccination.
“Although there is no magic formula, it is extremely important to adapt public health messages to the different characteristics of the population. The vaccine’s effectiveness in achieving community immunization is very dependent on public opinion and people’s confidence in adhering to this therapy,” says Rute Sampaio, CINTESIS researcher, and FMUP professor.
