LUSA // One Third of the Patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcers Die Within Three Years

Researchers from CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) concluded that one-third of the patients with diabetic foot ulcers die within three years.

Speaking to the Agência Lusa, Matilde Monteiro-Soares, coordinator of the study, explains that the causes of death include strokes and infections. Age and physical disability are factors associated with an increased risk.
