Joaquim Passos is an integrated researcher of the GeriMHealth group, Thematic Line 2 – Clinical and Translational Research of CINTESIS.
He is the Chief-Nurse and member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital of Santa Maria Maior in Barcelos.
He graduated in Nursing from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, specialised in Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatry from the Polytechnic Institute of Health of the North Region – Health School of Vale do Sousa, and in Gerontology from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), where he also completed his doctoral studies in Gerontology in 2014. He also took a postgraduate course in Health Unit Management and another in Clinical Supervision and Nursing.
He teaches the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Nursing and the Master in Social Gerontology of the College of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo; and the Doctoral Programme in Gerontology and Geriatrics of ICBAS. As a researcher, his main fields of interest are related to mental health problems in elderly and to active ageing.
