Maria da Assunção Coelho de Matos is an integrated researcher at CINTESIS, in the AgeingC research group, in the Thematic Line (TL1) Preventive Medicine & Societal Challenges.

She is a Speech Therapist. She studied at the Escola Superior de Saúde de Alcoitão and later graduated from the School of Health of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (2001). She received her Ph.D. in Health Sciences and Technologies from the University of Aveiro in 2012. She completed postgraduate studies in “Therapeutic Intervention in Oropharyngeal Dysphagia” (EPAP Center) and “Swallowing Disorders” (European Society of Swallowing Disorders – ESSD)

She was the leader of the project “ABC – Assisting Better Communication”, in the University of Aveiro, funded by Erasmus+. She co-founded the Sociedade Portuguesa de Terapia da Fala (Portuguese Society of Speech Therapy. She is an Assistant Professor at the School of Health of the University of Aveiro. She has published book chapters and scientific articles in her main areas of research.
