Cristina Jácome, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research/Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto (FMUP), was distinguished by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) with the “ERS Young Scientist Sponsorship”.
The distinction was awarded for the article “Feasibility of an asthma app to monitor medication adherence”, published by Cristina Jácome as the first author and coordinated by João Fonseca (CINTESIS/FMUP).
This work was carried out in the framework of the project mINSPIRE and it will be presented at the International Congress of the ERS 2020, which will take place online from September 5 to 9.
The research aimed to evaluate the usability of the InspirerMundi mobile application (app) in monitoring adherence to asthma medication in more than a hundred adolescents and adults with the disease, and it was carried out in 26 health institutions in Portugal and Spain.
mINSPIRE is a CINTESIS project funded by Portugal2020, which aims to develop and evaluate mobile technologies to measure and improve adherence to inhaled therapy in chronic obstructive respiratory diseases.
