CINTESIS coordinator and director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) addressed an open letter to the Minister of Health, in which he asks for urgent requests to face the Covid-19 pandemic.
For Altamiro da Costa Pereira, “we will inevitably have to test more suspicious individuals,” which involves “testing any patient who develops a severe cough, fever or dyspnoea, as well as the closest and/or most recent asymptomatic contacts of the confirmed infection cases.”
Addressing Marta Temido, the official warns that “the lives of many health professionals and many more NHS users depend (and a lot) on the speed and efficiency of their decisions.”
