Lia Fernandes, a CINTESIS researcher in the field of Ageing and Mental Health, was invited by Rádio Renascença (RR) to comment on the appointment of a Ministry of Loneliness in the United Kingdom. In an interview to RR, the psychiatrist argued that loneliness is not such a serious problem in Portugal since our culture dictates the existence of a “family structure probably much stronger” than the British and “higher levels of cohesion”.
