Ricardo Cruz-Correia is the Principal Investigator of the HIS-EHR research group of CINTESIS.

He holds a Graduate Degree and a Master Degree in Computer Sciences from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), and earned his Doctoral Degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the same university (FMUP) in the fields of Integration of Information Systems in Hospitals, in 2008.

He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Community Medicine, Health Information and Decision (MEDCIDS) of FMUP, where he lectures on Medical Informatics at several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He is also a supervisor of several Masters in Medical Informatics.

He has published near a hundred research articles, is involved in more than 15 scientific projects and has collaborated in the implementation of several health information systems. The knowledge acquired and the IT solutions developed during his research activity encouraged the entrepreneurial will to create businesses to develop and commercialize some of the most innovative products in the field of Medical Informatics – HealthySystems, VirtualCare and IS4Health.
